Board Meeting

JCRC’s agenda is focused in three areas: (1) media relations, (2) Israel advocacy and (3) community activism. As the news media’s key link to the Detroit Jewish community, JCRC ensures a Jewish perspective to events that occur or opinions expressed in the media. JCRC advocates, educates and mobilizes the local community to take action in support of a strong U.S.–Israel relationship and the American government’s role in promoting a Middle East peace process. "Community activism" embraces JCRC's community relations activities connecting Detroit's Jews with their non-Jewish neighbors, advocating in the halls of government on issues of concern to our Jewish community, providing meaningful volunteer opportunities to community members, and promoting a more cohesive Jewish community.

JCRC carries the dual responsibility of reflecting the Jewish community’s consensus while providing leadership in pursuit of traditional and contemporary Jewish values. It is both a gathering of activists and a platform for advocacy, agents of social change and stewards of conscience. JCRC serves as a catalyst to heighten community awareness, encourages civic and social involvement, and provides a forum to deliberate key issues of importance to the Jewish community.

JCRC is a constituent agency of the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit. JCRC is also an affiliate of the Jewish Council for Public Affairs (JCPA), which serves as the national representative voice of the organized American Jewish community.
