A program of JCRC's Literacy Task Force
The Challenge:
Lacking financial resources to seek help, some students are falling
behind in school, unable to remain at grade level. Team Lamed was
established to meet the needs of these middle and high school age
children by pairing them up with volunteer tutors.
Our Program:
Jewish Family Service and Yad Ezra clients who need tutoring services contact the staff coordinator of
Team Lamed. The student will be matched with a volunteer tutor who
shares a passion for seeing a child succeed in school. Introductory
sessions for volunteers and ongoing support and follow-up are
provided.
The Process:
JFS and Yad Ezra case managers will notify their clients, who are
prescreened for financial need, that Team Lamed volunteers are available
to help struggling middle and high school students. Clients will
contact Team Lamed directly, and a volunteer tutor will be matched with
their child to help them achieve scholastic success.
For information on volunteering or requesting a volunteer tutor, contact JCRC's literacy coordinator Linda Foster (email foster@jfmd.org or phone 248-642-2656).
