Get Involved | Become a Volunteer
WHERE TO BEGIN
Volunteering offers many benefits in exchange for the gift of your time and expertise. There are many ways that you can get involved with the Jewish Community Relations Council:
• Volunteer with the Detroit Coalition for Literacy. Tutor elementary school children who need help learning to read. Tutoring is done during the school day at a school in Oakland County or Detroit chosen by the volunteer in consultation with the literacy coordinator.
children after school at Harms Elementary School in southwest Detroit, a (DJI)
program.
• Volunteer to work at Bookstock. Sort used books during the year before the sale. This can be done at the volunteer’s convenience at Laurel Park Place Mall in Livonia.
• Become a Council activist participating in:
--Manage the inventory of MI-COEJL’s educational materials, and fulfill requests for these materials.
--Become a MI-COEJL speaker on environmental topics, such as “Conservation in the Home,” “Judaism and the Environment,” and “Faith and Climate Change.”
